How to join the waiting list
The availability of Upgrade Award seats is determined by our partner airlines, and can vary for each flight. If no Upgrade Award is offered for your flight online, you can telephone the Miles & More Service Centre to be placed on the waiting list.
Once on the waiting list, you’ll receive confirmation in advance if a seat in your preferred travel class becomes available.
Note: if you join our waiting list more than 3 days before departure, your miles or eVouchers will initially remain in your Miles & More account. The required miles or eVouchers will only be deducted once your departure is 3 days away. Please make sure that there are sufficient miles in your account at the time of the deduction. If we cannot confirm your waiting list booking, the miles or eVouchers will be re-credited to your account.
How to book your Upgrade Award with other Star Alliance airline partners
The first requirement for booking an Upgrade Award is that you have a valid flight ticket purchased from one of our partner airlines. Please also make sure that the flight has a flight number from the operating airline. Bear in mind that Upgrade Awards are only available in certain booking classes with other Star Alliance airline partners.

How to book your Upgrade Award at the check-in desk or gate
It’s only possible to book an Upgrade Award with selected airlines and at selected airports. We recommend enquiring in person at the airport.
Good to know
Availability: Upgrade Award availability can vary according to date, season and destination. We can’t guarantee that you’ll be able to book an upgrade.
Mileage credit: if you upgrade to a higher travel class, the miles and Points you earn will be based on the ticket you originally booked, not on the new travel class.
Rebooking and cancellation conditions: if you use an Upgrade Award to book a higher travel class, the terms and conditions of the ticket you originally booked will apply, not those of the new travel class.
Mileage amount/eVouchers: all mileage amounts refer to the Upgrade Award cost per flight segment. For a return flight, the amount will be double.
Domestic flights: an Upgrade Award for a domestic flight is only possible in combination with an Upgrade Award for an intercontinental flight. The miles for the Upgrade Award of the intercontinental flight also cover the domestic flight. These Upgrade Awards can only be booked in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland and Portugal with Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City, SWISS, LOT Polish Airlines, TAP Air Portugal and Turkish Airlines.
Travel classes: an Upgrade Award allows you to go up a maximum of two travel classes (Economy, Premium Economy, Business, First Class). You can, for example, upgrade an Economy ticket to Business Class, but not to First Class.
Upgrade Awards with miles
The miles required for your Upgrade Award are based on the departure and destination region of your flight as well as the booking class of the ticket you originally booked. Upgrade Awards from cheaper booking classes require more miles than Upgrade Awards from the more expensive booking classes.

Upgrade Awards with eVouchers
Upgrade vouchers, also known as eVouchers, are electronic vouchers for upgrades to a higher travel class. As a reward for your loyalty, you get 2 or 4 upgrade vouchers once you achieve Senator or HON Circle status, or when you renew your Senator or HON Circle status.
