Turkish Airlines’ love of its homeland is expressed in a beautiful tradition. All the aircraft in its fleet carry the name of a Turkish city. Major cities such as Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir are reserved for the larger aircraft, such as the Airbus A330/A340. The smaller the aircraft type, the smaller the patron city that provides it its name. The number of aircraft, however, now by far exceeds the 81 Turkish provinces. That’s why the airline is now relying on well-known places and expressions when choosing their names.
