How to become a Senator
In order to achieve or renew Senator status, you need at least 2,000 Points and 1,000 Qualifying Points within one calendar year. You can view your current progress under your status in your Miles & More account at any time.
A simple and transparent earning system helps you to see at a glance how many Points and Qualifying Points you’ll earn for a flight on your way to Senator status.

From 1.1.2024, you’ll achieve
Senator Lifetime status with 40,000 Qualifying Points. You’ll then have the benefits for life.

Senator status card and bag tag
As a Senator, you’ll receive a gold status card that is valid for at least 1 year, plus a high-quality bag tag.
First Class check-in
As a Senator, a warm welcome awaits you at First Class check-in, even when you have only booked a flight in Economy Class. Please note the check-in deadlines for your chosen travel class.
Access to the Senator Lounge and Star Alliance Gold Lounge
For relaxing moments before your flight, the Senator Lounge and Star Alliance Gold Lounge are available to you and a companion.

Booking guarantee on already fully-booked flights up to 48 hours before departure
Senators enjoy more flexible booking: book your flight in the booking class of the highest value up to 48 hours before departure and you’ll receive a booking on an already fully-booked flight in the travel class of your choice.¹
On flights with Air Dolomiti, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City and SWISS, this is booking class J in Business Class. With Brussels Airlines, Croatia Airlines and LOT Polish Airlines, the booking guarantee applies in booking class C.
In Premium Economy Class on Austrian Airlines, Discover Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS, the booking guarantee can be used in class G. In Premium Economy Class on flights with LOT Polish Airlines, the booking guarantee is valid in booking class P.
In Economy Class, the booking guarantee can be used in booking class Y.
Free carriage of an additional golf bag
Travel with selected Miles & More airline partners and in certain travel classes with an additional golf bag.
An advance of up to 50,000 miles
Senators can temporarily overdraw their Miles & More account by up to 50,000 miles.
Unlimited mileage validity
As long as you remain a status member, your miles do not expire, meaning you can save them up for major destinations.
Star Alliance Gold Status
As a Senator, you also have the Star Alliance Gold Status. You’ll also enjoy status benefits on all flights operated by Star Alliance airlines.

As a status customer with more than 10,000 Qualifying Points, you’ll receive exclusive offers on top events, known as the Status Events.
Extra Benefits

As a Senator, you can reserve a seat free of charge on flights operated by Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS in all booking classes (except for “Economy Light” fares on short-haul flights).
