Achieving status
To qualify for frequent flyer status, you’ll need Points, Qualifying Points or HON Circle Points.
To achieve Frequent Traveller or Senator status, you’ll need a certain number of Points and Qualifying Points per calendar year.
Only HON Circle Points awarded for Business and First Class flights count towards achieving HON Circle Member status.

How to achieve frequent flyer status

You become a Frequent Traveller when you earn 650 Points and 325 Qualifying Points in a calendar year. You need 2,000 Points and 1,000 Qualifying Points in a calendar year to achieve Senator status, and 6,000 HON Circle Points in a calendar year to achieve HON Circle Member status.
Qualification period and status validity
The qualification period is one calendar year for each status, including for HON Circle Members.
From 1.1.2024, the term will be a minimum of one year if you achieve or renew your status based on Points and Qualifying Points or HON Circle Points. It will start as soon as you have achieved your status and finish in February the year after next.
For clarification: if you achieve your status in May 2024, it will be valid until the end of February 2026.

Frequently asked questions
What happens if I cannot renew my Frequent Traveller, Senator or HON Circle Member status?
If you don’t earn enough Points, Qualifying Points or HON Circle Points within one calendar year, you’ll receive the status below the one you previously held. For example, if you’re unable to renew your Senator status, you’ll receive Frequent Traveller status for one year.
All status customers who don’t qualify for their status in March 2024 and revert to the status below their previous one will enjoy a two-year term with their new status, until the end of February 2026.
All members who don’t qualify for their status in March 2025 or subsequent years will revert to the next level down for one year.
What is the transitional arrangement for HON Circle Members?
Special rules will apply to qualifying as a HON Circle Member or renewing HON Circle Member status in the transitional period between the current and the new system.
Qualification and renewal years 2023 and 2024 (existing HON Circle Members with a term until the end of February 2025):
In 2023, you still earned HON Circle miles. As of 1.1.2024, you’ll be credited HON Circle Points for Business and First Class flights.
There are now two options:
Option 1:
In the calendar year 2024, you earn at least 6,000 HON Circle Points and qualify for HON Circle Member status until the end of February 2026.
Option 2:
We will, of course, recognise the HON Circle miles you have flown in 2023 and convert these into HON Circle Points. This amount will be added to the number of HON Circle Points you earn in 2024. If you reach a total of 12,000 HON Circle Points, you’ll achieve HON Circle Member status for two years until the end of February 2027.
Conversion rate: 100 HON Circle miles are equivalent to 2 HON Circle Points. 300,000 HON Circle miles are therefore equivalent to 6,000 HON Circle Points.
What happens if I initially earn 6,000 HON Circle Points in 2024 and then exceed the threshold of 12,000 HON Circle Points in 2023 and 2024?
In this case, the transitional arrangement will, of course, apply, and you will get a two-year term. You won’t need to take any further action. Before your current card expires, we’ll send you a new card with a term until the end of February 2027.
How has the rate been determined for converting HON Circle miles earned in 2023 into HON Circle Points?
The conversion rate has been determined as follows:
You previously needed to earn 600,000 HON Circle miles within two calendar years to achieve HON Circle Member status, i.e. 300,000 HON Circle miles per calendar year.
300,000 HON Circle miles divided by the qualification threshold of 6,000 HON Circle Points gives a conversion rate of 50, which means 100 HON Circle miles are equivalent to 2 HON Circle Points.
Will the Qualifying Points that were converted from Status Stars at the beginning of 2024 have any impact on status qualification or renewal?
No, the Qualifying Points that were converted at the beginning of 2024 from Status Stars points achieved by 31.12.2023 will have no impact on status qualification or renewal. They will only be taken into account in the cumulative Qualifying Points required to achieve Frequent Traveller Lifetime or Senator Lifetime status.
How many eVouchers will I get when I qualify for or renew my Senator or HON Circle Member status?
You’ll get two eVouchers when you qualify for or renew your Senator status.
As of 1.1.2024, you’ll get four eVouchers when you qualify for or renew your HON Circle Member status.
Please note that the relevant number of eVouchers will only be credited to your account after your new Senator or HON Circle Member card has been issued. They cannot be awarded prior to this, for example on the grounds that you have already met all the conditions for subsequently maintaining your status.
